Intense Pain And Discomfort On Passing Motion Or Vomiting. Had Taken Imodium Capsule For Severe Diarrhea. Cause?
my husband has severe diarrhoea and has been sick quite a lot.When the GP came he said to take an imodium capsule after every bowel motion.This was last thursday.(he s had a blood test , and 2 stool tests have been done, but too soon for a result). Could the imodium be upsetting him as when he s vomitted or passed a motion it has been explosive . Thank you

problem is not of motion asu mentioned vomiting as well..imodium is use for symptomatic treatment. kindly do clear about stool frequency, consistence, smell and associated with fever etc..It seems ur husband is having infection of intestine, try antibiotic ask ur GP there like tablet ciprofloxacin 500 mg bd and tablet flagyl ( metronidazole ) and with it u can have tablet imodium only if diarrhea severe enough and use oral rehydration therapy. if he's having vomiting try anti emetic medicine half n hour before meal and any medicine to avoid vomiting.
He should take oral rehydration for diarrhea to avoid diarrhea complications.
he will be fine for sure..but use of ors as mention above is mandatory for severe diarrhea if not hypertensive
