Intermittent Ear Infection. Pain Radiating To Cheeks. What Could This Be?
Hi my son has had grouments removed a year ago an six weeks ago he started with two ear infection since then he keeps getting left ear infection which clears an comes back again i have been told he has a build up of fluid an my need grouments again but the last ten days he has been in wicked pain with left ear no infection an pain is going down into left cheek on pain relife but dosent seem to be kicking in really worried as wen every he had infection in past always cleared no prob but tings keep getting worse than better have u any idea wat this cud be..
Hi, Its ideal to see the ear in this situation . But if i have to guide you it could be that he has got fluid collected again behind his eardrum and may have to be releived by myringotomy with grommet insertion. The pain could be because of the tension built behind the drum .
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM Your son have intermittent ear infection and history of grommet removal 1 year back. suggestive of otitis media . for cause of otitis media require the meticulous ENT examination there for better to treat the cause with supporative treatment such as. 1. Ballooning 2. Chew gum containing xylitol 3. Mucolytic agents.
Cheek pain may be due to referred pain(i.e. cause lie in the ear and pain in the cheek)
