Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ok, so my heart has been acting weird lately. Occasionally it ll just stop beating for a second, then start back up again like nothing happened. I m not overweight and I don t have high blood pressure . After I get done running , my heart will beat irregularly and stop sometimes when I breathe in. It doesn t happen all the time, but it happens often enough that I m scared. What could it possibly be?
I apologize for delay in responding. Well you have irregular heart beat specially so after exertion. That needs to be investigated. It happens every time that is what you say so it can be easily recorded on Holter Test wherein EKG leads are put on you and then these are connected to a walk man like instrument. The flash card from which is record of your last one day of heart beats when removed after 24 hours. That would be analysed with help of computer and a firm diagnosis is likely to be made. Thereafter treatment part is easy and oral drug treatment is all you might need (or might not need anything). Best thing about this test is you can do whatever you want to do run, yell and do whatever brings irregular beats. Of course when Holter has been put you can not swim or take bath. Consult your doctor for arranging this test on you.
