Hi,

Please do not worry as this is a common problem nowadays. You are most likely having polycystic ovaries. This means that the ovaries are larger in size and have many trapped eggs that are not ovulating.

Let me explain this to you a bit further, please bear with me. The normal female menstrual physiology is controlled by hormones that are secreted in very tiny quantities and in a very peculiar pattern. If there is any disturbance in the quantity or the pattern of hormone secretion the female egg does not develop properly enough to ovulate and gets trapped in the ovaries. There are a lot of factors that influence this. Commonly it occurs in obese females, having fat around the belly, diabetics or pre diabetics that have high insulin in their body or even daily stress.
Now for the treatment, you must first have an induced period taking a drug like medroxyprogesterone for 3 days. On the third day of your period, you must have a PCOD profile to done, to look for hormonal imbalances and then get treated accordingly.

Some people empirically prescribe OC pills to regularize the period, I personally feel that a thorough evaluation is important to determine the cause.

Also lifestyle modification like, regular exercise, low fat and sugar in your diet, addition of fresh fruits like oranges and pomegranates, not keeping up late at nights along with de stressing with yoga and meditation is helpful.

Please feel free to ask me when needed.

Do not worry as these are common problems. Take care. Have a nice day.
