Irregular Periods Perimenopause, Took Medroxypra. Symptoms Recurring Again. How To Regulate Bleeding ?
Hi Dr. Grief, I'm 51 and i started having irregular monthly's at the age of 47 sometimes i would bleed so heavy i would have to wear adult diapers which was embarrassing of course i was concerned my Dr. said i was going through the beginning stages of the change of life { Perimenopause} he prescribed Medroxypr Ac 10Mg to regulate my hormones i took them for 3 months and things got back to normal until now... i have started the same symptoms all over again but this time the flow is not heavy but continuous it will stop for a couple of days and start back up again this has been going on for almost 2 months is there anything i can get over the counter to regulate my bleeding or does this mean another trip to the Dr. i assume i have a hormonal issue once again any suggestions would be much appreciated . Thank you
At this age group (around peri-menopause), irregular cycle or period bleeding is quite common due to hormonal ups & downs and associated mental stress or depression etc.
However, one TVS scan and hormonal test will be worthwhile to rule out underlying causes if any. Cyclical progesterone would be beneficial to regularize period. Kindly, consult with your doctor regarding this.
