Hi,

From the information you have provided, your sister was found to have a parasitic infection in her brain for which she was put on sodium valproate 1gm and phenobarbitone 90mg. She maintained well till recently, and there has been a change in her behavior and her sleep pattern apart from having doubts regarding her family.

Any sudden change in behavior, sleep pattern, symptoms of suspiciousness or changes in personal care etc may be signs of a mental illness and she may need medications for the current symptoms and hence it would be good to take her to a psychiatrist for an evaluation and treatment.

Hope this helps,
Dr A Rao
