Is 18 Mm Cyst In Left Ovary A Cause For Concern?

Hello I was told by my OB/GYN after having an ultrasound done that I have a fibroid on my uterus and a cyst on my left ovary that measures 18 mm. I have been in pain for the past three weeks with Abdominal cramps, lower back pain, bloating,I ve also been very gassy and have pain shooting through my legs I am very concern that the symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of ovarian cancer. i m not aware of any family members that have been diagnosed with this type of cancer however I am very afraid that this could be a possibility please tell me your thoughts. My OB/GYN also ran a CA 125 tests and results showeda normal range of 18 but I also know this test is not very accurate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Most of the times ovarian cyst is an incidental finding and it will be simple ovarian cyst . As you have fibroids also, if your gynaecologist is planning for any myomectomy or hysterectomy then you can ask them for cystectomy which means removal of ovarian cyst.

Thank you
