Is 400 Mg Of Zentel For 3 Days Sufficient For Round Worms?

Good morning Dr. Is there anything like overdose of zentel? I am asking because my lab scientist said my result shows I have round worm. It s been a longtime, like a year, since I have been having pain around my lower abdomen, some times on my back, some times around the ribs. And with recurrent fever, have been switching between malaria and typhoid treatment until I recently went for test, and round worm was confirmed. Since the signs have been there for a long time, don t it mean the worms have been there for a long time doing some damages? Do you feel 400mg by 3 days will still be sufficient? I feel like I should take more

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
If the diagnosis of round worm infection is confirmed then the standard treatment is single oral dose of Albendazole to be taken on empty stomach at once. There's no need to continue the treatment for 3 days. Single dose of Albendazole is sufficient enough to eradicate the infection. A personal hygiene is recommended to prevent recurrent infection.
Best regards
