Is 98mg/DL Normal In A Random Glucose Test For A Person With Family History Of Type 2 Diabetes?
I am a 57-year-old female with a family history of Type 2 diabetes (mother and maternal grandmother). I am quite active and of normal weight. I had some blood testing done recently that included a random glucose test which was 98 mg/DL and wonder if this is normal. My doc was checking some things because I have worsening osteopenia, and she did not indicate that my glucose level was of concern. Any thoughts? I do have my A1C level checked every six months. My email is YYYY@YYYY . Thanks so much!
Hi there, Thank you for your question. A blood glucose level of 98 mg/dl in a random sample is not something to worry about and this is absolutely normal. This means that you do not have diabetes. Kindest Regards
