Is ALP Being 370 With Globulin 3.6 In A Teenager A Cause For Concern?

Hi. My son 15 years of age now was diagnosed with Ricket in the elbow two years back. His Alkaline Phosphatase was 842 at that time. Doc gave him medicine and injections and he remained fine for two years. Now for the last some months he is complaining about the pain in the right knee at front side with little swelling at the knee left side and tender to touch and he feels pain in knee when sits for long in the same position. I get his blood checked yesterday. CBC all normal, LFT all normal apart from ALP which is 370 and Globulin which is 3.6. Any advise and concerns?? He is very active and have no other health issues at all.

Hello,

The raised level of alkaline phosphatase is in relation with bone disorder of imbalance at osteoblast and osteoclast activities. Though there is no problems on clinical grounds, he has to be tested additionally for serum vitamin D3, calcium level to co relate it on actual diagnostic parameters.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
