Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Acetaminophen 500 Mg A Better Alternative For Ibuprofen And Zoloft?
I was recently put on zoloft for depression. I am having black stools from this. I also take a lot of Ibuprofen for headaches and my doctor told me to stop taking those, that the interaction with zoloft and ibuprofen could be causing my bowels to turn black, from bleeding. Can I take Acetaminophen 500 mg, instead, or would that also be a problem?
Hello, Black stool In case of Ibuprofen consumption may be due too gastric bleeding. You may take Acetaminophen instead of Ibuprofen for headache if you are not allergic to Acetaminophen. But make sure that you are not having it with Empty stomach to avoid gastric acidity and possible gastric ulcer bleed. After taking Acetaminophen if you suffer by same problem then you should consult your treating physician as soon as possible.
Thanks & Take Care, Dr. Suraj D.
