Is Actalin An Effective Supplement For Hypothyroidism?
Is actalin an effective supplement for hypothyroidism? I am 33 and have had hashimotos since 2010. I was on levo 125mg for years and my tests came back within normal ranges. I still did not feel well and was switched to synthesis, same dosage. My hair still falls out and I am always tired. I would like to feel better, so any otc or diet changes would help.
Hello We treat hypothyroidism with levothyroxine and do not recommend actaline or other supplement as there is no evidence of effectiveness of these supplements in hypothyroidism. I would like to advise you the following treatments to improve your symptoms - 1- Start calcium with Vit D3 2- Add a Zinc supplement 3- Repeat TSH level to stabilize Levo doses 4- Rule out other causes of fall of hairs , consult with Skin specialist 5- Tiredness and low mood are very common in hypothyroidism, which needs Antidepressant treatment. You may consult with a psychiatrist 6- Other relevant investigations, like Blood sugar, kidney Function Test, total Serum protein, Lipid profile, B12 level and Hb should be done to rule out other pathology . Best wishes
