Is Adderall Advisable Instead Of Buspar For Anxiety?
Hello I am currently on suboxone for opiate dependence, ativan, and Buspar for anxiety with a new doctor since my insurance changed when I got laid off. I have struggled with adult add since I was 19 and got on Adderall for about 2 years but went off of it to see if I could just go with out since my insurance was changing. I want to get back on it cause I m trying to look for work and finish my degree. Maybe get off the anxiety meds cuz the Adderall used to calm me down pretty good.
I can understand your concern. The new medicines you have been prescribed may take about 3-4 weeks to reach the desired therapeutic level in blood and present with the concerned effects. However, changing medicines and dosage on your own is not advisable and may bring withdrawal symptoms that can worsen your situation. I would advise you to wait for a few weeks and let the medicines work to relieve the anxiety you have.
In addition, if you feel that Buspar is not working at all and you are not comfortable using it at all, you can talk to your psychiatrist to get you back on Adderall.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
