Is Aggrenox Intake Advisable When MRI Showed Signs Of Left MCA Infarct And DVT?

I was proscribed Aggrenox when hospitalized in 1/13/12, with what was thought to be a TIA. My CT was negative. Day 2 MRI showed left MCA infract. Day 3 showed evidence of a DVT. My new V A does not understand why this medication was given to me and why I have continued to use it sense my hospitalization. Should I just quit taking this, or should I tell my DR. this medication should be continued.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you had suffered from TIA and diagnosed as infarct so you were prescribed Aggrenox. It was a right decision by your doctor. This will protect you from DVT, TIA, stroke. Do not stop it. In addition, take care of your blood pressure, blood sugar level and lipid profile.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
