Is Althea Advisable Instead Of Yaz For Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

Hi doc, i was diagnosed with pcos last dec. i ve been using dianne pills. After 3months of pills, i had ultrasound and the result was the left ovary is free from pcos while the right is still with pcos. So i had to go on pills again, july 17 was the last pill, then i stared mens on the 18 so i started another pill, but then it never stopped bleeding up to now aug. 13. Aug. 2-8 the dr. Gave me tranexamic and mefenamic to stop the blood, it didn t work. On aug. 10 the doc said i have to take yaz pills, but i took althea instead bec. It was cheaper. From july 18 - aug 9 it was just little bleeding (i only used panty liner), on aug. 10 i had to use napkin bec. Its getting a little bit strong. Is it safe to shift from dianne to althea? Instead of yaz? I dont know what to do with my bleeding. Please help me

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you take the medications as prescribed by your doctor. It may be expensive then other medicines but it’s more effective. If you experience heavy bleeding then do take tranexamic acid as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
