General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. 160/100 is high blood pressure and should be treated by antihypertensive drugs. 30 years is very young age to get such high blood pressure. So secondary causes should be ruled out. Ultrasound of kidney and a consultation by cardiologist should be done to rule out the secondary causes. Amlodipine is ok to give. If you were my patient my preference would be nifedipine or betablockers like metaprolol as amlodipine is more suitable for elderly people. Also give her low salt diet. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
