Is Amrour Better Than Levothyroxine For Treatment Of Underactive Thyroid?

I have had an underactive thyroid for 38 years. I am currently on levothyroxine 150 MCG. It was just increased from 125 MCG. I was thinking of asking the Dr to switch me to AMROUR. My sister is underactive also and she said she feels much better since she switched. What are the benefits if any taking AMROUR vs levothyroxine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think Armour thyroid is better than levothyroxine. It is a natural extract taken from animals while levothyroxine is synthesised. Armour has fewer side effects and fewer interactions with drugs than levothyroxine. The effect of both treatments in thyroid and metabolism is the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
