Is Aspirin An Effective Blood-thinning Medication?
My daughter is 11 and has alpha thalassemia trait and high cholesterol, she also has a high rbc. What should I be concerned about and could asprin help thin her blood? She is very symptomatic and has very low excerise tolerance, fatigue and tachycardia after sugar consumption.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Thalassemia is a form of genetic blood disorder characterized by abnormal formation of hemoglobin & low excerise tolerance, fatigue and tachycardia in your daughter are due to it. High Rbc count is also common. Aspirin in low dose as 75mg is effective as blood thinner. She should increase fibers in diet by food such as whole wheat, oats, raw fruits, etc & decrease intake of fats for high cholesterol.
In Mild thalassemia patients do not require medical treatment. More severe thalassemia require blood transfusion. The iron overload related to thalassemia may be treated by chelation therapy with the medications deferoxamine. Bone marrow transplantation can be done in young people who have an HLA-matched donor. It has high Success rates have been in the 80–90%. range
Hoping your query is solved.
