General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for the treatment of cough with yellowish sputum.

Asthalin expectorant contains two medications (Salbutamol + Guaiphenesin) and it is mainly used to treat cough with sputum in patients suffering from bronchial asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis.

If you do not suffer from the airway diseases as mentioned above, there is no need for you to take Asthalin expectorant.

The cough with yellowish sputum is suggestive of infection of the respiratory tract you may get benefit from expectorant containing Guaephenesin or Ambroxol along with a course of appropriate antibiotics to be prescribed by your treating doctor.

Hope to have answered your query.
