Is Asthma Related With Episodes Of Short Breath?

I keep having episodes of short breaths, such as you would get when you have been crying. I have mentioned it to my physician and was told it could be my asthma. I have never had this before, though I have had asthma for 22 years. Have you ever heard of this type of breathing disorder?
