Is Ativan Advisable To Be Taken Continuously For Flight Phobia?
Hi I was prescribed 1mg Ativan for terrible flight phobia that I had developed suddenly over the course of last year. I found it useful during short haul flights but I do feel occasionally sudden bouts of panic during the flights. I also felt the medication wear off after around two hours. I travel frequently for work and am worried about an upcoming 15 hour flight. I am wondering if I can take this Ativan continuously as I feel it wear off during the flight.
You cannot take it continuously but you can either use a higher initial dose or you can split a higher dose. The dose can go up to 6mg but this is a very high dose. You can either use a higher one time dose or split a higher dose (eg 2mg or higher) into two and use one dose at the beginning of your flight and another during the flight if needed.
This should not be done on your own, it would be best to speak to your doctor before changing the dose. He or she should know the dose that you are using in case complications arise
I hope this helps
