Is Ativan The Right Medicine For Anxiety?

My daughter was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. She started taking 5mg lexepro 3/2. At the moment she is very distraught and crying. She was also given a prescription for Ativan? Generic is lorazepam. She just got this prescription and has not yet taken it. At the moment she said she doesn’t need to take it because she doesn’t feel anxious but feels depressed and doesn’t think it will help. As it is very late and we are both tired, should I try to convince her to take it or see how tonight goes?
