Detailed answer:
Hello. Thank you for using healthcare magic to help you deal with your concern.
Yes, Lipitor and Atorvastatin calcium is just the same medication.
Lipitor is the trade name for Atorvastatin calcium. It is part of a medications class so called Statins which are used to treat high levels of
cholesterol in blood.
So you may use Atorvastatin calcium, taking in consideration not to use at the same time, alcohol, or medications which may harm liver such as
paracetamol, augmentin (antibiotic),
nitrofurantoin (antibiotic), etc.
You should have a check of SGOT, SGPT, GGT, FA (liver enzymes) after 3 months, which can be elevated from Statin usage.
It is important to check the CPK levels in blood, which may be rised up from statin usage too. If it is within normal ranges , than you should check the CPK level only in case of myalgia (
muscle pain).
Hope this was helpful to you .
