Is Atorvastatin Intake Necessary After An Angioplasty?
Hi, I recently had a quadruple bypass, my symptoms were only angina, there were no heart attacks and the need for CABG was determined when I was undergoing an angioplasty. I m 66 years old, very active and fit, and my total cholesterol=164, HDL=48, LDL=101. My doctor has me on ATORVASTATIN 20 MG. With my cholesterol values which seem to be very good, is it really necessary to stay on the statin. My doctor said it s more for preventative of heart attacks in the future. Just would like another opinion.

Is Atorvastatin Intake Necessary After An Angioplasty?
Hi, Atorvastatin is required after angioplasty to avoid future plaque accumulation and whether block. It is started even if your cholesterol is normal. Nothing much to worry and you can safely take Atorvastatin. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
