Is Augmentin Advisable When Suffering From Internal Bleeding During Pregnancy?
My wife is pregnant with 3 months and admitted to the hospital few times for internal bleeding collection. It was 0.1cc first time she got admitted and gone upto 8cc second time and even third time it remains 8cc. Now while getting discharged third time, doctor suggested Antibiotics, Augmentin 625mg. Can you tell me why it is for?
Augmentin is an antibiotic containing Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid which is useful in treating gram positive bacterial infections. Augmentin belongs to penicillin group of drugs and it is considered safe to be taken during pregnancy. Your wife has been prescribed this antibiotic to prevent any infections or sepsis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
