Is BCG Treatment Effective For Non Invasive Bladder Cancer?

I have been diagnosed with bladder cancer - grade 4 tumors which were removed and had not invaded the muscle - treated with mitomcin for three different times (every three months). The wall of the bladder has carcinoma insitu, grade 4 but does not yet invaded the muscle. Dr wants to treat with BCG - tell me what the side effects are and what to TRULY expect and is this the best treatment?

Hello dear,
BCG is type of vaccine synthesized from attenuated mycobacteria bovis.
It is type of immunotherapy used in bladder cancer.
It produce immune response against bladder cancer cell and prevent the production of cytokines that prevent the recurrence of cancer in the bladder.
Yes BCG therapy is better than standard therapy.

Following side effects are occur:
1. Frequent urination
2. Pain during urinatiom
3. Haematuria
4. Tiredness
5. Mild fever

Please do close follow up to your doctor during treatment.
