Is BPA Free Plastic Utensils Safe For Daily Usage?

I am a grandmother of three girls and I help my daughter with meals as well as babysitting. I have always thought plastic utensils, cups, plates are harmful. My daughter and son in law heats food in plastic bowl for their daughter s dinner. They say there is no BPA so they are safe. Is it true?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Many experts claim that BPA is harmful, but others disagree. BPA can cause hormonal imbalances even though clinical evidences are lacking. Some scientists claims that it can cause infertility in prolonged exposure. So it is better to avoid BPA as much as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
