Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is baclofen an opiate? My doctor wants to try it out because I am in the process of quitting morphine. I am down to 15mg a day. I have degenerating discs in my neck and some in my back, also arthritis in both hips. I now have a lot of low back spasms! What would you recommend? Besides that?? Thanks Robin.
Welcome to HCM! Thanks for posting your question on HCM! Baclofen is a muscle relaxant used to treat painful muscle spasms seen in a number of clinical conditions like degenerating disc in the cervical and lumbar spines. Baclofen is not an opioid drug. Regarding the process of quitting morphine, well you have to consult a doctor for the possible use of Methadone (another opioid but with less withdrawal effects!).
Take care and say " No to drugs of abuse" Good luck!
