Is Benadryl Advisable For Severe Itching On The Legs Post A Skin Graft Procedure?

My husband had skin grafts taken from both of his legs and has been in bed for over a month now. His doctor only wants him up to go to the bathroom. He has been keeping them bandaged but they are staying moist and not scabbing up so he has been keeping the bandages off. When he gets up to go bathroom his legs start bleeding and he says they are very itchy. Is there something he can put on them to relieve the itching. Would Benadryl help.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

Perhaps he has dermatitis on the affected area. I suggest him to take an oral antihistamine e.g Cetrizine tablet or Benedryl tablet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
