Is Benadryl Safe To Treat Itchy Bumps All Over The Arms And Legs?

Hi my grandson has these bumps all over his legs and arms some are very thick hard bumps and they itch him really bad. He keeps them snatched to the point he digs holes in his arms and legs. We took him to a dermatologist and they said it is eczema, but the cream he was given isn t working. His pediatrician says it is bug bites. I know a few are mosquito bites but the others always come back in the same places. How can I help him stop itching? When he doesn t itch they start to get better. I am afraid to keep giving him Benadryl for the itching.

Hi,

For itching he may need to continue anti histamines. Benadryl can be replaced with cetrizine or loratidine alongwith mast cells stabiliser like monteleukast sachet. Topical steroids may be needed keeping his history. Permethrin lotion treatment once to rule out any scabies infection may be considered.

Wishing him a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
