Is C-section Advisable Before The Dilation Of Cervix?

Why is this doctor so in a hurry in talking my 23 year old niece, into a C-section? She only dialated 1 cm. Baby and mom is not in any distress, She s not in any pain either! the walls around her cervix is also very thick. do you agree, she needs to check out of this hospital and go home? Wait relax until her water break or until she start having pain, (first child).

Hi! it all depends upon your choice: if you want C-section, it is safer to go for an elective C/S and of course before the pain starts...

And if you want normal vaginal delivery, please discuss about the presentation of the baby (vertex, breech etc.) and effacement/taking up of cervix etc. if everything is normal you have to wait till first and second stages of labour are over, taking almost 24 hours in your case...then the baby would be delivered...! Therefore, there are risks in this case...!

regards!
