Is CPAP Therapy Advisable For Dizziness And Headache?

hi . I have been using an older type cpap machine for 3 .years or more. can they be dangerous if not working properly ? I have just had a c.t brain etc trying to find out why I have all these thick heads&eye problems & dizzeness. I always wake up with a very dry throat & still tired .

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness and headache . The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to condition like meniere's disease, there can also be other reasons also like ear infection . CPAP machine is generally used for sleeping apnea and will not be helpful in case of headache and dizziness unless these symptoms occur due to sleep apnea . I would suggest you to take antihistamine and anticholinergic drugs like meclizine and scopolamine. You should take oral broad spectrum Antibiotics to treat the infection. Put anti-inflammatory ear drops. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined , who may order CT scan , rotatory chair test along with taking history. Start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor may recommend meniett device , steroid injection or vestibular therapy . Avoid bending forward and drink green tea with ginger thrice a day . Apply dry warm compresses on ear.Doctor may also order sleep study .
