Is CT Scan Advisable While Suffering From Sickness?
Hi - My father originally was diagnosed with pneumonia and the doctor s did a CT scan in the beginning on November in the hospital when he was admitted. However since he is still sick, before they do a biopsy, the doctor wants to do another cat scan to see if it had at least some improvements ( after taking the antibiotic). So, the doc is planning to do this CT scan in the beginning of December ( exactly 1 month after). Is this safe? or should we just go ahead and get the biopsy done since he is not still feeling well. thank you.
CT scan is having radiation hazard but we have to see benefit verses sideeffect. if benefit is more we should go for it. as need to see the progress ct need to br repeated, but for only seeing the pneumonia a plane chest x-ray can also be advised. If x-ray is not sufficient we can go for CT scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
