Is CT Scan Showing Soft Tissue Mass Between Anterior Right 6th And 7th Ribs Diagnosed As Hematoma Concerning?
My husband was told he has a hematoma. The ct scan says there is a ellipitical shaped soft tissue mass seen between the anterior aspect of the right 6th and 7th ribs and extending to the costal shondral junctions. this measures 10.3x3.0x5.1 cm. there is no rib destruction. the mass demonstrates inhomogeneous attentuation with areas of low density as well as soft tissue sensity. the findings are nonspecific. this could be due to a hematoma. soft tissue neoplasm is not ruled out. could you explain this in laymans terms please and is it something serious?
According to report there is soft tissue mass in between anterior aspect of the right 6th and 7th ribs measuring 10.3x3.0x5.1 cm.It may be due to many reasons. Most likely it is due to hematoma (blood accumulation) so history of trauma is important.Probably this is a benign condition and there is no need to worry. However soft tissue tumour can't be ruled out. You need FNAC/Biopsy for proper diagnosis. Hope i have answered your query.
