Is Calpol 120mg Thrice A Day Right Dosage For A Toddler With Fever?
I am a visitor to Dubai and my 15 month old daughter has caught fever with temperature running around 101-102 F. Its been 48 hrs since she has got fever. I am giving her calpol 120mg, 3 times a day and the temperature is constant around 100 mark. She is active and no signs of dehydration. Can you please suggest if I need to opt for a stronger medicine? And dosage pls ?
The dose depends on her weight. It should be given at 10 to 15 mg for each kg of her weight. Eg if she weighs 10 kg, she would need 100 to 150 mg for each dose.
If you are not using enough for her weight, then you would not see a response. If you are using enough and the fever is not decreasing then you can try an alternative.
If the fever continues and there is no obvious cause then she may need to see a doctor for assessment I hope this helps
