Is Ceclor A Stronger Antibiotic In Comparison To Amoxicillin?

When my daughter was a child, and needed an antibiotic our Dr. would prescribe amoxicillin and repeatedly she would need a second round. After a few years, knowing her history, if I remember correctly, our Dr. would prescribe ceclor. Can you tell me if that antibiotic was stronger or just a different type of antibiotic? It always seemed to clear up her infection. Thanks Jody

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Every antibiotic is active against certain bacteria, there are some antibiotics that may be described as narrow spectrum and others that may be described as broad spectrum.

The narrow spectrum antibiotics are only active against a few bacteria whereas broad spectrum antibiotics are active against a wide range of bacteria.
Ceclor is more broad spectrum as compared to amoxicillin, this means that it would be active/fight against more bacteria.

I hope this helps
