Is Celebrex The Right Medication For Muscular Pain In The Back?

My late husband was a pharmacist and I still have some Celebrex in the cabinet . I had a raging back ache this AM....took 2 Aleve....4 hrs. later took 2 XtrSt Tylenol and used a heating pad. This evening it s much better. I m 85 yrs. old. I have a medical background, too. I cannot remember if Celebrex is for muscular pain . It s not 10:40 PM and I usually take a low strength Diazapam for sleep. Please advise. Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Celebrex is composed of 'celecoxib', which is a COX-2 selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

It is used to treat the pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and acute pain in adults.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
