Is Chantix Intake Advisable Prior To A Lung Surgery?

I quit smoking in 2012 using Chantix. I was on the Chantix for only 4 weeks. My husband passed away 9 months later from kidney cancer. I started smoking again at that time due to his death and having to deal with adult stepchildren and probate. I have tried using then Chantix again twice over the past year but my reaction to the medication has now changed. I am on the medication Metroprolol ER, as I was in 2012, but now I can not tolerate both. I get very sluggish and even tried stopping the Metropolol ER completely. I have been diagnosed with a nodule on my right upper lobe on my right lung and surgery scheduled for next week. I would like to use the Chantix again to quit again without using the nicotine patch if at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
