Is Ciprofloxacin Advisable For Elevated Pus Cells Count?

Hi Doctor, My urinalysis result is Pus Cells 60-80/hpf and Pus Cell clumps 1-2/lpf. I m 64 years old, a Filipino. I had sex with my wife just last week (but never with other girls) my doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacin (ziplox)750mg. for me for 7 days, and Cefuroxime (roxxin) 500mg for my wife twice daily for 7 days. What could be your comment on this please? Thank you!

Pus cells in the urine to this count in you does suggest a urinary tract infection. Ciproflox is fine, however it would be good to get a urine for bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity, and tale antibiotics accordingly. Consume at least 2 to 3 liters of fluids per day to wash out the bacteria in your urinary tract.
