Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Citralka Syrup Advisable For Frequent Urination?
my wife is prescribed citralka syrup 3 times a day for frequent urination. Is this correct and is there any side effects? She is mildlay diabetic and not taking any medicines. Recently underwent an opertion for obstruction in the small intenstine.
Used alone it is not advisable for frequent urination. Citralka (disocium hydrogen citrate) is a syrup that is an alkalinizer which is effective reducing the acidic content of the urine hence used in the symptomatic treatment of burning micturition associated with urinary tract infection. Since your wife is diabetic so the possibility of urine infection must be detected and treated with appropriate antibiotics along with citralka. The most common side effects of citralka include stomach upset, abdominal cramps, flatulence and diarrhea.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
