Is Cladribine The Right Medicine For Multiple Sclerosis?
Hello, I am a person living with Multiple Sclerosis. My Neurologist is looking to change my current MS therapy medication IVIG Immune globulin to Cladribine. Do you think this is a good idea? If so, do you know or have any research that proves this medication has worked successfully for people living with MS?
Cladribine is basically an antineoplastic (anticancer) drug used in the treatment of lymphoproliferative diseases like B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy-cell leukemia and other conditions.
As far as its role in the treatment of multiple sclerosis is concerned it is still an investigational drug evaluated for reducing relapses in people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
As per the initial reports available, it appears to be safer, more effective and easier to use when compared to other drugs for multiple sclerosis. However, long-term follow-up studies should be conducted to determine the safety profile of the drug.

Is Cladribine The Right Medicine For Multiple Sclerosis?
Hi & Welcome. Since your neurologist has decided to stop Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), other disease-modifying therapies for multiple sclerosis include Pegylated interferon beta-1a, Dimethyl fumarate or Natalizumab. Hope the advice given above would be useful. Wishing you best of your health.
