Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Clarithromycin Advisable For Respiratory Infection?
I was on two courses of clarithromycin 500mg- first for 10 days twice a day for a respiratory infection that came back 2 weeks after a z-pack and then 2 weeks later I was on for 7 days twice a day after I got an UTI. I finished that three days ago. My eyes have felt dry and irritated and my vision is not as sharp for the last 4-5 days. I tried putting in a new pair of contacts and no improvement. Is it possible my eye issue is related to the antibiotics? Thank you!
Some antibiotics can cause dry eyes but the antibiotics that you used are not known to cause this problem though persons react differently to medication.
You can use one of the drops for dry eye, e.g. Systane or Restasis etc. - to see if one of these may be helpful for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
