Measles is a virus not a bacteria so the clavum would be helpful if the doctor believes that there is a bacterial infection present as well. Measles treatment normally consists of drinking a lot of fluids, controlling any pain with paracetamol or ibuprofen and treating any cold like symptoms. The white cell count would go up with any infection, viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic. It would improve when the infection resolves I hope this helps
