Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Asking for my m-i-l. Lives on her own. She s 88, history of blood clots. Height 5 6, weight 55kg (losing weight). Been on warfarin tablets for 10 years then changed to clexane injections 12 months ago. Has start of dementia - in denial. Was told to inject 9mg out of 10mg phial. Eye sight problems. Who knows what she s giving herself. Memory problems. Are there clexane tablets and are they the same as warfarin tablets? Doesn t want to go back to weekly pathology tests again.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Clexane is low molecular weight heparin which is available as injection only. Its not given as tablets. You need to use tablet Warfarin for oral anticoagulation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Palleti Sujith Kumar,
