Is Clindamycin Right Medication For Proteus Mirabilis Bacteria In Bartholin S Cyst?
Is clindamycin oral antibiotics 300 mg twice per day for seven days a good treatment for Proteus Mirabilis bacteria in a Bartholins cyst? I had the cyst lanced and drained but it is still filling up with fluid because my doctor says that is because I need to treat the bacteria. The problem is I i m trying to avoid levofloxcin and Cipro because of other health problems. Do you think clindamycin will effectively cover this type of bacteria?
Though Clindamycin may be effective, against proteus mirabilis, still, aminoglycosides, carbapenem, cephalosporins, Augmentin, Tazobactam / Piperacillin, Ampicillin / Sulbactam etc., may be also equally or more effective. You may easily avoid quinolones like Ciprofloxacin or Levofloxacin. To be more precise, culture of of cystic fluid may be more helpful for choosing the appropriate antibiotic.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
