Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have been taking Tylex for many years, but several times recently pharmacy has tried to change this to cocodomol On three separate occasions this has been prescribed and each time, appears to disagree with me. Today have returned these to pharmacy phoned and contacted surgery. Is there anything further I ned to do to prevent wastage?
I understand your concern. Both co-codamol and Tylex, despite the different brand name, are pain killers that contain both codeine and acetaminophen. This makes the two drugs, basically, the same thing. The pharmacy gave you one in exchange of the other because they can be taken interchangeably and have the same effect. If you, however do not feel comfortable with this, you have every right to demand Tylex as your sole alternative. Asking your doctor to transfer your prescription to another pharmacy is something you can do.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
