Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am 63 yrs old and have taken Lisinopril for many years now. I was in the supplement business for many yrs and now retired. My scientist told me yrs ago how important it is to take CoQ10, which I have been doing for a long time. My question is that I take care of an elderly patient at the nearby Marys Woods Assisted Living facility and he is a 98 yr old man with congested heart failure. He takes statins also. I can t seem to email this wedsite to his family to do some research. They need to know how important it is to use Co Q10. Can you email me some info at YYYY@YYYY ? Thank You! Just noticed that you are from Ireland. So is my patient Mr. Cummins. He looks a lot like you! Karen Molin/ Oregon
CoQ10 is a highly lipophilic molecule. It is a common component of cellular membranes.
However, CoQ10’s most prominent role is to facilitate the production of adenosine triphosphate in the mitochondria by participating in redox reactions within the electron transport chain.
CoQ10 may represent a safe therapeutic option for patients with congestive cardiac failure.
But, it is always safe to try the medication under your doctor's supervision. Kindly take your doctor's advice before instituting the treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
