Is Coenzyme Q10 An Effective Medication For Hypertension?

Im on 10mg on lisinopril. My blood presure in unsually under good control. then, 4 to 6 times per year, depitetaking generic claritin, i get sinus infections. A this time, my blood presure spikes and I get headaches, blurred vision etc, In an atempt to level my blood preassure off, I will then take co-10-Q supplement. Is this a good remedy? What other remedies should I consider.

Hello,

No, neither is lisinopril necessarily. Co Q 10 does not affect blood pressure per se. Lisinopril is nearly all digested by the liver and stomach before it even gets in.

Somedays less gets in than others so it is usually associated with spiking. (SEE BIOAVAILABILITY IN PDR).

Any other blood pressure drug is more reliable. So, quinapril is probably better than lisinopril. And there are many, many other blood pressure meds.
