Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have been taking cogentin for a year and have some memory issues. I have recently stopped needing it as much. Will my memory issues go away after the cogentin use is stopped. If permanent, I have another question. My previous doctor had me taking 6 mg of cogentin per day for several months. When I started seeing the university doctor, everyone on the treatment team was shocked and they all agreed that 6 mg was way too much. I weigh 160 pounds. Should I speak with an attorney?
Hello, Thanks for the query. Cogentin (Benztropine) an anticholinergic compound used in the treatment of Parkinsonism, can affect memory, because of its anticholinergic action. If the drug has been discontinued then its effects will wear of in a few days. The usual recommended dose is up to 2 to 4 mg a day. Thanks
