Is Coricidin Advisable For Cough, Sore Throat And Congestion?

I had bypass surgery and now only take Coricidin HBP (per a recommendation by my cardiologist) when I need to relieve cold and flue symptoms. I have developed an infection in my lungs with a cold and the doctor put me on cefuroxime. Can I continue to take Coricidin HBP to relieve my coughing, sore throat, fever, congestion, and runny nose symptoms?

Hi Dear,

welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough, sore throat and congestion which is because of viral infection/ upper respiratory infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles three times daily. Taking decongestant nasal spray can also be relieving. If you feel pain and discomfort in body or throat taking painkillers like Ibuprofen Or Paracetamol can be relieving. You should take hot milk boiled with half a teaspoon of turmeric. Coricidin is advisable for your present condition. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order blood tests and x-ray chest. Doctor may order pulmonary function tests to detect level of infection. Drink lukewarm water on daily basis.
